The same MACD settings can mean quite different things on different timeframes: crossovers occur frequently on the 4-hour chart, and less often on longer timeframes, but they carry greater significance.
A death cross above the zero line is often interpreted as weakening upward momentum; it does not necessarily mean a trend reversal. A death cross below the zero line is often seen as a continuation of the downtrend.
