A genuinely viable way to cash out and spend in China has emerged.
Tencent has launched TenPayGo, a payment app for overseas visitors to China, on App Stores worldwide, offering cross-border mobile payment services.
TenPayGo quietly appeared in June 2026 and was officially released on September 24.
The idea was to extract the “Pay” feature from WeChat Pay, strip away all the social and ecosystem features, and offer foreigners a pared-down version.
But some people have taken advantage of this by linking a virtual card to TenPayGo and scanning WeChat Pay codes, turning the money on a U card into spending power in China.
With this, you may no longer have to worry about cashing out.
