How to trade futures short-term today: let’s talk framework

Whether to take this trade—the funding rate is more honest than the candlesticks.

Futures trading only cares about three sets of numbers; everything else is noise.

1. BTC 75741, 24h 75208-80794, change -5.85%.
2. BTC notional open interest: $7.20 billion, 24h -6.75%
3. Account-wide long/short ratio: 2.99

My take: The funding rate is 0.0054%, close to zero, and the long/short ratio is 2.99—leverage hasn’t picked a side. If it hasn’t picked a side, don’t use high leverage to pick one for it.

Execution levels (based on current price ± structure, not an old chart):
- Momentum zone: only consider chasing after price gets above 76,347; below that, it’s a false breakout
- Buy the pullback: 74,833-75,287; don’t buy if support fails
- No-trade zone: if the 1h candle closes below 74,378, skip this trade

My position: I don’t try to catch the first knife. Until the drop is accompanied by a decline in open interest, any early entry is catching a falling knife.

Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are left blank.
Would you place a limit at the pullback level, or wait for the candle to close?

Useful insight: When ETH gas fees rise, on-chain activity cools first; derivatives markets often react later.
Inspiration: If the strongest meme coin hasn’t outperformed BTC by 2%, treat it as volatility, not a sector move.
