【Uncle’s Take】The Democrats won, but BTC rose instead: the market is celebrating not victory, but the shoe finally dropping

The most interesting thing about this U.S. midterm election was this:

The Democrats took control of both the House and the Senate, leaving Trump as a “lame duck”; meanwhile, BTC, which had briefly fallen below $76,000, rebounded to around $78,000.

Politically, Trump lost. In trading terms, though, the market may not have.

Why?

Because sometimes what markets fear most isn’t a bad outcome—it’s having to wait too long for one.

Before the election, investors were worried about all kinds of unknowns: Could Trump continue pushing his policies? Would crypto legislation be stalled? Would tariffs and fiscal policy spark new conflicts?

Once the results were in, at least some of that uncertainty disappeared. Short-term investors began buying back in, and both BTC and U.S. stock futures staged varying degrees of a recovery.

But don’t rush to interpret this as good news.

With the Democrats controlling Congress, it will be harder for Trump to advance his agenda over the next two years. The legislative gains the crypto market is hoping for may be delayed, while fiscal and tariff policies will face more checks and balances.

So this rebound looks more like “panic easing” than “a policy shift in a favorable direction.”

Now look at China’s A-shares: the STAR 50 surged nearly 10% today, and turnover across the Shanghai and Shenzhen markets climbed back above 2 trillion yuan. Easing external uncertainty is one factor; expectations for domestic liquidity and the return of funds to the technology sector are just as important.

Three markets, three different reactions:

BTC is trading the easing of panic; U.S. stocks are trading changes in the policy outlook; A-shares are trading a recovery in their own risk appetite.

Here’s what I want to say:

The shoe dropping doesn’t mean the direction is now clear. But at least the market can finally stop staring at the shoe and start looking at the assets themselves again.

What matters more than the election result now is whether the money sticks around.
