Samsung posts record profits, but Micron $MU gets dragged down 5% instead. Old Bull thinks the market is nitpicking

Old Bull is bullish on Micron. The wave of selling triggered by Samsung is a perfect chance to get in, so I’d start a position around 900. It was down 5.38% from the day before; Micron closed at 934.27 in the US market last night, down 4.98% on the day.

Samsung is what dragged it down. On Thursday, Samsung reported record third-quarter operating profit of 107.4 trillion won. Yet its share price fell in Seoul, and memory stocks in the US were pulled down with it. No matter how impressive the profits, the market still looks for something to criticize first.

What Old Bull is paying attention to is a line Samsung wrote itself: in 2027, memory demand driven by AI will far exceed the supply of the entire industry. That lines up with what Intel said this week. Intel’s finance chief said rising memory prices have already dampened PC demand, and that this will last at least through the first half of next year. PC makers think it’s too expensive, while data centers are scrambling to get their hands on it. The memory makers are still collecting either way.

Musk is moving into this space, too. Terafab’s plans put logic chips and memory on the same campus. If even he wants to make his own memory, you can judge for yourself just how tight things are. No one can say when this memory crunch will ease. Old Bull only knows that it hasn’t eased yet. Whether you follow along is up to you; this is not investment advice.
