Hyperliquid has burned 49.87 million HYPE — nearly 5% of its total maximum supply. But the market isn’t willing to pay a premium for that story yet.
The facts: total permanent burns have reached 49.87 million HYPE, or 4.99% of the maximum supply of 1 billion tokens, worth around $3.89 billion (reported by Wu Blockchain/Onchain Lens and cited by TokenPost and CoinCentral, Oct. 29). In the past 24 hours alone, 19,700 HYPE were burned, worth around $1.59 million. HYPE is trading around $78.6 as I write this.
My take: a burn this large tightens supply on paper, but it isn’t an automatic price catalyst — prediction markets still put the odds of HYPE reaching $100 before year-end at just 23%. I think the key is fees: burns will continue only as long as protocol volume funds them.
What I’m watching: whether daily burns continue, whether $78 holds, and whether derivatives volume recovers or follows the broader market lower.
What do you think: is this 5% burn enough to change HYPE’s structure, or is it just a nice-looking number in a sluggish market?
This is my analysis, not financial advice — always DYOR.
