$BTC The Fed is really quite hawkish this time!
Interest rates held steady at 3.75%–4.00%!
Of 12 officials, 2 actually called for a rate hike!
Inflation remains high, while the economy is still strong!
We haven't even gotten a rate cut, and now markets have to worry about the next hike!
On October 28, the Federal Reserve announced its latest FOMC rate decision, voting 10–2 to leave the benchmark interest rate unchanged. Notably, the two officials who dissented wanted to raise rates by 25 basis points outright, showing that voices within the committee are still calling for further monetary tightening. The statement also stressed that the U.S. economy is expanding strongly, domestic consumption remains resilient, business investment and productivity are strong, employment growth is broadly keeping pace with the labor force, and the unemployment rate has changed little—while inflation remains elevated.
The key takeaway is that the Fed was in no hurry to signal an easing cycle this time. Instead, it again emphasized the need to achieve price stability, adding that future policy decisions will depend on incoming economic data. A strong economy, stable employment, and high inflation mean the Fed is in no rush to cut rates—and may even keep the option of further hikes on the table. For BTC, U.S. stocks, and gold, the short-term focus isn't whether rates have changed, but whether markets need to reprice the future rate path. If Treasury yields and the dollar continue to strengthen, risk assets could come under pressure. But if upcoming data cools, expectations for tighter policy could reverse just as quickly.
Rates didn't move, but those two dissenting votes for a hike made the hawkish stance crystal clear.
Now it remains to be seen whether markets can digest this decision. If BTC holds up against macro pressure, it could even see a rebound fueled by short covering! ⚡️
