On October 24, Tezos opened access to the experimental post-quantum network Quantumnet for validators to test. This is an early version of the network, designed to test post-quantum developments.

For more information, see the official XTZ post on X.

That’s why post-quantum work on Tezos started early.

Quantumnet is Tezos’s experimental post-quantum previewnet: rough around the edges, and built to be tested.

Tezos (XTZ) is a blockchain platform designed to run and support decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts, using a unique decentralized governance system based on the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) algorithm.

Tezos operates using Liquid Proof-of-Stake (LPoS), a unique version of PoS used only by Tezos. Network participants with more than 6,000 XTZ can become delegates or “bakers,” producing new blocks and validating existing ones. Tezos smart contracts are written in the Michelson programming language. Transactions on the network use gas, which is paid for in the XTZ cryptocurrency.

XTZ is the platform’s native token, which has several uses: it serves as a reward for participating in the baking process or delegating tokens, is used for voting in the Tezos decentralized governance system, and also serves as a means of transferring value.
