The XRP Ledger’s fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment was originally scheduled to activate on October 23, but validator support briefly fell from 29 to 26, resetting the 14-day approval countdown. Support later recovered to 31/35, moving the estimated activation date to November 4.
The amendment addresses a vulnerability that could allow abnormal token creation, as well as calculation issues in the vault and lending systems. The incident does not mean the vulnerability was exploited, but it highlights a reality of on-chain governance: a server going offline or restarting could be interpreted by the system as a lack of support. Is a strict upgrade mechanism a safeguard, or does it make critical fixes too fragile to advance?
