【Is a 75% drop enough?】
Retail investors have a bad habit—they see a big drop and assume it’s time to buy.
“It's already down 75%. How much lower can it go?” I've heard that line far too many times. And what happened? Some people really did try to catch the bottom, and ended up at a loss for words. I'm not saying this is what will happen to NEAR, but that way of thinking is seriously flawed.
NEAR is at $ 5.08, down 75% from its all-time high. On paper, it certainly looks cheap. But “low valuation” and “worth buying” are two different things. I've seen too many assets stay undervalued—and fall another 30% after already dropping 50%.
I'm not being bearish. Lately, I've been thinking about something else: the entire altcoin market is being reshuffled, BTC is stuck around $ 82k, South Korea's Kospi is still falling, and money is flowing into bonds. Under this kind of macro pressure, is NEAR's consolidation really a bottom forming, or is it just waiting for the next round of capitulation?
What I'm watching is whether anything real is happening on the NEAR blockchain. It's not about how far the price has fallen, but whether there has been a meaningful change in the protocol's usage data. That's what could actually change my mind.
If on-chain data is improving and developer activity is picking up, then $ 5 may be a level worth looking at closely. If not—then a 75% drop may only be the beginning.
In practical terms, this means either NEAR is genuinely building a base of real users and applications, or the market will continue to overlook it. I haven't reached a conclusion yet, but I already have a direction in mind.
What about you—what are you watching?
