The morning low only reached 81,245; 80,809 wasn’t even retested—this weekend call on $BTC comes down to where the 16:00 four-hour candle closes

Here’s the morning answer first: early on, I asked, “Is it genuinely holding up, or has the catch-up drop simply not happened yet?” The past few hours of Asian trading have answered half the question—both of $BTC ’s morning four-hour candles had lows above 81,245, and last night’s low of 80,809 wasn’t retested at all. Hourly closes were mostly squeezed into a $140 range between 81,478 and 81,616. I’ll take a side: I lean toward “the resilience is holding,” but we’ll have to wait for the close for the other half of the answer. Intraday action doesn’t count.

13:06 cross-check from two sources: BTC 81,485, 24h -0.76%, high 82,941 / low 80,809; $ETH 2,432, 24h -0.36%, high 2,494 / low 2,393. ETH touched 2,453 this morning, with its decline narrowing from -0.86% early on to -0.36%, clearly outperforming BTC. When the broader market has no clear direction, money tends to move first into the relatively stronger asset.

The data still have that weekend look: BTC and ETH funding rates are both neutral, around +0.01%. OKX perpetual open interest is about 374,000 BTC and 5.847 million ETH—no one is piling on leverage to bet on a direction. BTC hourly spot volume is down to roughly $20–35 million, and gets thinner toward midday. I couldn’t find a reliable, consistent figure for this morning’s liquidations, so I won’t cite an old number.

There’s more action in pockets of the market: $TIA 11:00’s one-hour candle closed at 0.7343, holding above 0.7148. I posted about it separately at 12:45; around midday it was at 0.7435, up about 25% from the low. That’s a level to take profits, not chase. The broader market is flat while individual coins make moves of their own—that’s precisely what you’d expect when existing capital is picking its spots.

No new variables between now and the European session: the Fed’s quiet period has begun, and there’s no U.S. stock market trading or major economic data over the weekend. Oil prices are at Friday’s settlement levels (WTI 101.41, Brent settlement 109.86); markets are closed on Saturday. The only thing that could stir things up is a Middle East headline, and as of midday I hadn’t found any new breaking developments.

The invalidation level is unchanged: a four-hour close below 80,000 voids the resilience thesis; treat it as a catch-up drop. Only a sustained close back above 82,634 would make a recovery worth discussing. In between, I’ll assume it’s still grinding sideways.

This is only my personal market commentary, not a guarantee of returns. In thin weekend trading, a single headline can send prices sharply lower, so manage your own position size.

My call for the afternoon: will the 16:00 four-hour candle close above 82,000, or back below 81,000? Pick one 👇
