📰 The most interesting thing about this Chainalysis report isn’t how big North America’s crypto economy has become, but that on-chain payments are shifting from “people making transactions” to “machines spending money on their own.”

As of July 1, 2026, North America’s crypto economy reached $3.02 trillion over the past 12 months, with the U.S. accounting for $2.78 trillion and Canada also surpassing $247.7 billion. The U.S. accounts for 88.1% of model inference, so technology and capital are still clearly concentrated there.

🔥 What’s really a bit unexpected is AI agent payments. There have been more than 138 million x402 transactions on Base, and 87% of transaction amounts fall between 0.01 cents and 10 cents. In the card payment system, the fees on such tiny amounts could cost more than the payment itself—but on-chain stablecoins are perfectly suited to handling these small machine-to-machine settlements.

💡 More importantly, user behavior has already changed. Of the wallets that made their first deposit in the third quarter of 2025, 70.6% made a second deposit within 30 days; by the second quarter of 2026, that figure had risen to 89.3%. The median time from depositing funds to making a wallet’s first payment also fell from 73 days to 18 minutes.

👀 Canada, meanwhile, has taken a different path: stablecoin remittances to India, China, and the Philippines reached $2.36 billion, up 141% year over year, making it the strongest P2P crypto economy in the G7. One is building AI payments, the other is solving cross-border remittances—North America’s strength clearly isn’t just speculation.

🤔 Do you think AI agent payments will become real commercial infrastructure first, or will they go through a wave of hype before that happens?
