Issuing fund shares on-chain is easy; getting out can still mean waiting months—and now someone has raised serious money to fix that.
New York-based Fission announced on October 15 that it had raised a \$10M Series A, led by Pantera Capital, with participation from Circle Ventures, Borderless Capital, New Form, gumi Cryptos Capital, and GTS CEO Ari Rubenstein (PR Newswire / Fortune). The funding will be used to expand liquidity capacity, support more tokenized private and semi-liquid funds, and deepen institutional integrations.
Key takeaway: Tokenization has spent the past few years focused on “issuing on-chain”; what really holds back the institutional experience is the exit. Traditional redemption windows can stretch to over a hundred days (some reports say more than 200 days). Fission’s approach lets eligible investors sell via their wallets, settling atomically in stablecoins (including \$USDC). It says this cuts the wait to about 90 seconds, 24/7. The company says it has processed redemptions worth several million dollars and integrated with ecosystems including Centrifuge, providing access to product pools from Apollo, Janus Henderson, New York Life, and others.
This is not the same thing as Multiliquid (NAV atomic swaps) from earlier today: one is a channel for “fund shares ↔ stablecoins,” while the other focuses on secondary liquidity for private fund shares. Different pipes along the same narrative.
The team’s background includes experience at Point72 / Securitize; in October 2024, they also raised a \$1.6M pre-seed. Valuation undisclosed.
