🚨 CPI 3.7%! BTC falls toward $80,000—isn’t Bitcoin supposed to hedge against inflation?

🇺🇸 The latest U.S. CPI report showed that inflation rose 3.7% year over year in September, above the market expectation of 3.6% and the previous reading of 3.4%.

After the data was released, global risk assets came under pressure. $BTC fell toward $80,000, and ETH weakened as well 📉

But here’s the question!

Don’t a lot of people say Bitcoin can hedge against inflation? So why is BTC falling as inflation heats up?

💡 I think the key isn’t that CPI came in 0.1 percentage points higher, but that expectations for future interest rates and liquidity have shifted.

Rising inflationary pressure → The Fed may keep rates high or hike them further → Risk appetite in the market declines

On top of that, the crypto market has a lot of leveraged positions. When prices fall quickly, this can trigger a cascade of liquidations and amplify volatility further.

📊 Next, I’ll be watching three indicators:

① Whether expectations for Fed interest rates continue to shift
② Whether BTC can stabilize around $80,000
③ Whether spot ETF fund flows and leveraged liquidations improve

For me, the most important thing right now isn’t rushing to call the bottom, but understanding what’s behind the drop.

Do you think BTC can hold $80,000?
