For an L2 token, is its biggest bullish catalyst really “outsourcing the server maintenance”?

Uniswap has handed full responsibility for operating and maintaining its own L2 chain, Unichain, to Optimism’s OP Enterprise: the OP team is taking over the sequencer, RPC, monitoring, and alerts. The testnet migration was completed on the 13th, and the mainnet handover is scheduled for the 29th.

After the news broke, $OP surged nearly 20% at one point today, hitting $0.162. Daily trading volume reached $226 million, more than doubling, making it the standout in the L2 sector—especially since $BTC $ETH was still languishing under the shadow of CPI at the same time.

But here’s the interesting part: after climbing halfway, it gave back half of its gains and is now hovering around $0.15. A 64% gain over 30 days sounds impressive, but look at the yearly chart and it’s still 68% below where it was a year ago.

So here’s the million-dollar question: what actually drives L2 valuations? Technology, users, or “getting Uniswap in your corner”? Do the people buying in today really understand what OP Enterprise does, or did they just see the word “up”?

Pick a side in the comments: A, this is reshaping the L2 landscape and Superchain is finally going to make it; B, it’s just an emotional flash in the pan, with everyone above $0.16 waiting to break even.
