What should you do if the market starts falling and you want to profit from it? Or if you want to multiply your profits by using additional capital?
For these purposes, Binance offers Futures Grid. Today, we’ll look at how this advanced trading bot works, how it differs from Spot Grid, and how to launch it without the risk of instant liquidation.
🔥 Key Futures Grid features: How is it different from spot trading?
A futures bot works on the same grid principle (buy low, sell high), but offers two major advantages:
Profit in either direction (Long and Short):
Long bot: Similar to spot trading; configure it if you expect the market to rise.
Short bot: A unique tool. The bot makes money when a coin’s price falls. It sells contracts at peaks and buys them back at lower prices, locking in net profit in USDT in a falling market.
Neutral bot: The most popular option in a sideways market. It doesn’t open positions in advance. If the price goes up, it shorts; if it goes down, it opens a long position.
Leverage: The exchange lends you funds against your balance as collateral. For example, with just $100 and a modest 5x leverage, your bot will trade with $500. All your profits from small trades are automatically multiplied by 5!
🚨 The other side of the coin: Liquidation risk
Leverage is a double-edged sword. In spot trading, if a coin’s price falls, the bot simply “freezes” temporarily with the asset it bought. With futures, however, there’s a risk of liquidation.
If the price moves sharply against your strategy (for example, you start a Short bot and the coin takes off into space) and the liquidation price is breached, the exchange will forcibly close the bot and take every last cent of your margin balance.
🛠 Manually configuring a futures bot for current market conditions
Go to “Trading Bots” -> “Futures Grid” and make sure to switch to “Manual” mode:
Choosing a pair: For futures, beginners should stick to highly liquid, large-cap coins such as $BTC BTC/USDT or $BNB BNB/USDT. Volatile tokens can liquidate you in minutes.
Margin type: Always choose Isolated margin. That way, if things go wrong, the bot risks only the funds you allocated specifically to it—not your entire wallet.
Leverage: Beginners should absolutely avoid setting leverage above 2x–5x. Forget about 20x or 50x—those are a guaranteed way to lose everything in an instant.
Price range and grids: Set the boundaries as you would for spot trading, but bear in mind that leverage means you need an optimal number of grids (for example, 20–25) to ensure each order has sufficient volume.
Stop-loss: On futures, it’s essential! Your stop-loss must be set well before the liquidation price. If the strategy doesn’t work out, the bot should close at a small, controlled loss, preserving your trading capital.$YFI
