BTC dominance is back at 60%
153 out of 169 altcoins can’t even keep up with the rebound
You call this a bull market?
This is a mass exodus
Guys,
On October 8, BTC dominance hit 60.05%
A one-month high
Then on October 13, it climbed further to 60.28%
At first glance, you might think Bitcoin dominance is recovering
And the market looks pretty healthy
But take a look at the altcoin listings
And you’ll want to fucking turn off your screen
Why?
Of the 169 active altcoins tracked,
158 fell harder than BTC in this downturn
After the rebound, 153 still hadn’t recovered to their pre-drop prices
That’s 90.5%
BTC bounced 2.84% from its low
Making up for its losses
The median loss recovery rate for altcoins was just 54%
In other words, most alts haven’t even filled in half the hole
What is BTC dominance?
Basically, it’s BTC’s market cap as a share of the total crypto market cap
When it rises to 60%,
It means money is pulling out of altcoins
And flowing back into BTC as a safe haven
Two things can push dominance higher
Either BTC surges
And outperforms all the altcoins
Or the broader market falls,
With altcoins dropping harder than Bitcoin,
Which passively boosts Bitcoin’s share
This time, it was mainly a flight to safety
With money choosing Bitcoin first
Generally speaking,
In the middle to late stages of a bull market,
Altcoins take off,
And Bitcoin dominance can fall to around 40–45%
That’s what people often call altcoin season
Once Bitcoin dominance keeps climbing,
It means the market’s risk appetite is falling
And people are afraid to touch smaller coins
My take, guys:
You’re probably better off sticking with Bitcoin
And avoiding other shitcoins as much as possible
No matter when,
Shitcoins go up fast
But they fall even harder
Bitcoin is still the safer bet
