Standard Chartered has actually launched $RLUSD custody—it’s not just another promise.
Standard Chartered official news (Singapore, 2026-10-12): Institutional clients can now custody Ripple USD ($RLUSD) on the XRP Ledger within the bank’s digital asset custody framework. The service is provided by Standard Chartered’s Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) branch, regulated by the DFSA.
The next step is also under discussion: working with Ripple and LMAX Group to make $RLUSD eligible as collateral and expand Standard Chartered’s collateral mirroring model—assets remain in bank custody, while their collateral value is mirrored to LMAX, so the tokens do not need to be moved directly to the trading venue. Note: custody is live; the collateral/mirroring service has not yet launched and is subject to documentation, testing, regulatory requirements, and internal approvals.
The only thing to take away: the hard fact is that institutional custody for $RLUSD at a G-SIB bank is now live. Don’t read this as LMAX collateral being enabled, or tie it into a single narrative with today’s Kraken VARA / former North Bank collateralized lending.
This is not investment advice.
