On October 9, U.S. spot ETF data showed a divergence worth noting:
📉 $ETH spot ETFs saw net outflows of $56.1 million in a single day, marking their ninth consecutive trading day of outflows. All of the outflows came from BlackRock’s ETHA;
📈 Meanwhile, Grayscale Mini ETH ETF quietly bought $103.3 million over the past 20 days, while its legacy fund ETHE saw $71.6 million in outflows during the same period. Essentially, funds are moving from higher-fee products to lower-fee ones, leaving Grayscale clients with net purchases of $31.7 million;
💰 By contrast, $BTC spot ETFs saw net inflows of $21.13 million that day, with IBIT alone taking in $22.38 million.
My take: The ETH ETF story isn’t dead; the money is just “switching containers.” Nine straight days of outflows look more like structural rotation than a collapse in institutional conviction. The real test is whether fresh capital will still be willing to step in once this internal reshuffling is over.
