Say it out loud—when I first started playing contracts, I loved watching the long/short ratio. If I saw that the proportion of longs was higher, I’d follow along and go long. Turns out, more than once I got taken out by a single needle move.

Later I gradually understood: the long/short ratio tells you which side everyone is on, but the market often likes to mess around in the opposite direction.

Today $BTC across all accounts, the long/short ratio is 1.89—longs make up the majority, so I’ll just treat it as a reference.
