A Tether-backed Utexo project is preparing to launch a version of the USDT stablecoin on the Bitcoin network during October, in a move that could bring the world’s largest stablecoin back to the network where the idea of digital currencies first began. This development comes amid growing user interest in the possibility of using stablecoins directly on Bitcoin instead of relying on other networks. $BTC
According to the announced plans, the project will provide private transfer operations, along with the ability to swap directly between USDT and $BTC, which could give users greater flexibility in moving between the stablecoin and the native asset without complex intermediary steps.
The plans also include offering loans backed by native Bitcoin, a feature that could open the door to using $BTC as collateral to obtain liquidity without having to sell it. This type of service typically attracts users who want to keep their assets while benefiting from their value at the same time.
So far, many details remain unclear, such as the exact operating mechanism, transaction fees, and the extent to which major platforms will support this new version. No official information has been released either regarding the initial rollout size or the list of technical partners involved in the implementation.
If this direction succeeds, it could represent a shift in how users interact with stablecoins on the Bitcoin network—especially as the debate continues about the best ways to connect digital liquidity with more decentralized assets. The most important question remains: will October be an actual turning point or just a testing beginning?
