Reddit shuts down RSS and public API—what it’s really removing is the externally free, standardized access channel. RSS will stop on November 13, and there’s no replacement for subscriptions outside the community. The public API will be shut down by March 2027; after that, if third-party tools want to programmatically read content, they’ll have to negotiate commercial licensing.
Approved third-party apps and bots must be registered by January 12, 2027, otherwise the API will be cut off as well. Legal channels haven’t completely disappeared, but the threshold changes from “subscribing to feeds” to registering, getting approval, or buying data.
