Bitcoin gains 42.6% and targets its best third quarter since 2017

Bitcoin is set to record its best third quarter since 2017, with a gain of more than 42% since early July. However, the price’s drop below $83,000 weakens this performance ahead of the release of crucial U.S. data.

Bitcoin gains more than 42% in Q3 2026, its best performance since 2017.

The $82,500 threshold becomes a key support after the recent decline in BTC.

U.S. data on inflation and employment could strongly reignite volatility.

A break below $82,500 would weaken the bullish structure seen over the past few months.

Bitcoin holds more than 40% in gains in the third quarter

Bitcoin ended the week at $84,450, its highest weekly closing level since late January. The price then pulled back to $82,557 amid tensions between the United States and Iran and liquidity movements on exchange platforms.

On September 29, BTC is around $83,800, after hitting $84,239 the day before. It remains below its annual opening price, around $88,700, with less than two days until the quarterly close.

Several key levels now summarize the balance of power:

$88,700 corresponds to the 2026 opening price;

$86,000 represents the estimated average cost of buyers of U.S. Bitcoin ETFs;

$82,500 is the immediate technical support;

$80,500 corresponds to the average price of corporate treasuries;

$76,700 marks the average cost of active investors.
