Bitwise announced the liquidation of its Dogecoin ETF, leaving only a few hundred thousand dollars in net assets, and it did not bring the expected sell pressure to the spot market. Instead, $DOGE subsequently surged quickly from the lows, with daily trading volume jumping to $3.2 billion—showing an almost completely decoupled, independent trend from traditional institutional channels.

This reveals a very clear liquidity watershed. Compared with mainstream assets that are highly dependent on the Wall Street creation/redemption channel and compliance-based capital pricing, the cumulative inflow volume of the Dogecoin spot ETF remains negligible to date. Whether institutional channels are present or absent simply cannot meaningfully siphon or provide a backstop for its underlying spot pool; its pricing influence is still deeply rooted in native spot depth and social-media sentiment catalysts.

Amid the resonance between new features on the X platform and community sentiment, retail-originated funds rapidly took over liquidity on the board. However, price action that is detached from sustained institutional capital support often also means the board is highly susceptible to being dominated by short-term attention cycles. Next, the key is whether, after the impulse-driven volume expansion, spot turnover can build an effective support level above $0.10. If the hype fades and buying-side follow-through suffers a break, the risk that the liquidity tide retreats remains impossible to ignore.
