This is the Dusk mainnet launch plan given in Nillion’s August 12 article. As of this snapshot, there are four calendar days left, and the article’s “plan” still has its place here. There is a nearby product milestone, but there is no evidence yet that it is the cause of this round of price surge.
The Covenants introduced by Dusk are what bind encrypted instructions to conditions, so that the node decrypts them only when the conditions are met. What it aims to address is the information exposure before an instruction is executed. This direction is more concrete than simply talking about the “privacy concept,” and it is easier to map to later deliverables.
However, “the instructions are encrypted” and “the conditions are also kept from the nodes” are not the same capability. In the official roadmap, the latter is placed in the Neon phase in 2027. Once broken down by phases, what this Dusk iteration is supposed to do is actually clearer.
My interest in this roadmap is that it pushes privacy one step closer to the execution conditions. The most weighty material coming next will be how the first batch of applications will use these encrypted instructions, rather than writing all the functionality of the next few years into this rollout in advance.
