In the first hour after the US stock market opened, stock and commodity-related contract liquidations totaled $10.22 million, and 87% were long positions losing money.

Even just stocks alone accounted for $6.35 million. Out of 1,089 orders, 91.8% were longs—this batch of people who got trapped after a spike at the open were then hit from the other side and thrown out.

Watch it over a 24-hour period: for stock liquidations alone, about $19.89 million was liquidated; 64% of it was long positions. That shows this isn’t a phenomenon that only happened within this particular hour—it’s this stretch of the market steadily collecting money from longs.
