AI actions now dominate the S&P 500 more than investors think.

As of August 31, the 10 largest companies accounted for 37.8% of the index, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices; Nvidia alone represented 8.1%.

That matters because many of the biggest companies in the index are directly tied to AI.

Nvidia sells AI chips to Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, and Meta, all of which are investing heavily in AI infrastructure. Broadcom provides networks and custom accelerators, while Micron delivers high-bandwidth memory.

Therefore, even investors who buy a diversified S&P 500 fund are getting significant exposure to the AI investment cycle.
