Two new proposals have been introduced to the XRP Ledger network, where the $XRP token is used, in the validator voting phase, in a step that could open the door to native lending functions within the network. The proposals are XLS-65 and XLS-66, aiming to enable asset vaults and term lending directly on the XRP Ledger, but their implementation remains contingent on final approval.
If the proposals receive the required approval, the XRP Ledger could add a more financially integrated layer, allowing for the creation of asset vaults and access to specific-term loans without the need for external solutions. This anticipated development could strengthen the network’s role in decentralized finance.
Until now, the situation is still in the voting phase, and no confirmation has been issued that activation has become effective. This means that everything related to timing or the scope of application has not been decided yet and remains pending the validators’ vote.
The proposed XLS-65 and XLS-66 are part of an ongoing development path for the XRP Ledger network, as they aim to expand capabilities beyond just fast transfers. Adding original lending could make them more attractive to decentralized finance projects and users looking for on-chain financial tools.
The most important question remains: will the vote turn into actual approval that opens the door to original lending? The coming days will reveal the outcome, and any development in this file may be reflected in the market’s view of $XRP.
