🚨 RUSSIA SETS A DEADLINE OF 1/7/2027 FOR CRYPTO ENTITIES
Russia’s new crypto law took effect on 1/9/2026, establishing a legal framework for exchanges and digital asset custody providers.
Operating entities are given a transition period until 1/7/2027 to apply for licenses and meet the new requirements. After that date, crypto activity must comply with the new regulatory mechanism of the Central Bank of Russia.
Notably, BTC, ETH, and USDT have been added to the category of highly liquid crypto assets that investors who do not meet eligibility requirements can access through regulated intermediaries, with a limit of 300,000 RUB per year.

Russia is moving toward regulation rather than a complete ban on crypto. Setting a licensing deadline for intermediary entities indicates that the market is being gradually brought into an official framework.
