In the past 24 hours, US stock shorts actually won most of the battle: the total liquidation amount for stocks was $25.69 million, with 72% attributed to shorts, and the buyers chasing a drop couldn’t hold up through the rebound.
But in the last 4 hours, the market mood has completely flipped. Out of $1.13 million in liquidations, 97% became longs. The shorts that were just winning a moment ago have instantly turned into the group being buried.
The biggest single trade was a leveraged ETF, SOXL. A long position of $192,000 was liquidated at $144.94. Gold wasn’t idle either—OKX and Binance consecutively exited a few long positions around the $4,300 mark.
Commodities are also leaning bullish. In the past 4 hours, 80% of liquidations were wiping out longs, consistent with the stock market’s direction—suggesting this rally isn’t just about a single sector.
