The most outrageous thing about altcoins right now is that most holders’ coins still haven’t broken even!

The median altcoin’s profitable-coin supply ratio is below 25%.

That means more than three-quarters of the supply is still underwater!

The market has already had a run, yet altcoin holders are nowhere near the stage of collectively making money.

This is still far from the typical top-of-market cost-basis structure.

Based on on-chain cost-basis distribution, the median Altcoin currently has only under 25% of its supply in profit, while a large share of holdings remains trapped in higher cost ranges. Usually, when a market truly enters a highly euphoric phase, the proportion of profitable coins expands dramatically. So the data right now looks more like early-stage repair—there hasn’t been a large buildup of profitable sell-side positioning yet.

But this also can’t, by itself, prove that the top is definitely still far away. The structure varies hugely from one altcoin to another. What’s more worth watching is whether, as price continues to rebound, the profitable supply can expand quickly—and after the previously trapped coins are released, whether new money steps in to absorb them. If both sides move in sync, this altcoin repair cycle will be much more likely to have staying power.

What altcoins are least short of right now is, in fact, coins that haven’t broken even.

If capital keeps spreading, the next phase is really about whether these trapped coins can be absorbed layer by layer!
