Binance launched today, September 22, the MOONSHOTUSDT pre-IPO futures contract to estimate the valuation in an initial public offering (IPO) of the Chinese tech startup Beijing Moonshot AI before its possible listing in Hong Kong.

In general, I avoid trading newly launched contracts. However, after researching $MOONSHOT AI, I initially decided to open a long position, because it’s a project that has shown significant progress in a short time. I share some data that I find relevant:

  • In July 2026, they launched Kimi K3, one of their most advanced and efficient AI models.

  • On September 3, Reuters reported that investors in its new funding round were valuing the company at around $50 billion.

  • That same day (03Sep), they filed their IPO application in Hong Kong (advised by Goldman Sachs, CICC, and Deutsche Bank) to raise at least about $3 billion.

  • On September 10, reports emerged about a possible second listing on the STAR Market, which is the tech market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

  • On September 17, they expanded their model into the financial sector (Kimi for Financial Services), integrating it with S&P Global Market Intelligence and Crunchbase.

However, there are also other key data related to the AI sector between the US and China that are worth keeping in mind:

  • On September 8, U.S. security agencies (CISA, NSA, and FBI) accused Moonshot AI and other Chinese labs of using knowledge distillation techniques to train their AI models by extracting capabilities from U.S. models.

  • In a report published on September 10, Anthropic alleged that several AI labs such as Moonshot AI used fake accounts, proxy servers, and distillation techniques to copy the capabilities of its Claude model without authorization.

  • Today, September 22, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) initiated a formal investigation against several Chinese AI companies, including Moonshot, for allegedly leaking sensitive data by routing users’ queries to Anthropic models.

All this is happening just two days before the Trump–Jinping summit (September 24), where AI will be a central point of technological tension.

Under this scenario, if we look at the MOONSHOTUSDT chart, we can notice that it opened with a lot of volatility, but as the hours pass, its movements have become more stable:

  • It maintains an average price between $68 and $70.

  • With support between $65 and $67, but if regulatory tensions intensify, that level could target $60 and, in the worst case, reach $38 in the coming days.

  • If tensions calm down after the presidential summit, it’s likely there will be a rebound toward the $75 resistance level, and the price could even try to reach $80.

For my part, although the MOONSHOTUSDT price hasn’t collapsed despite the regulatory, reputational, and geopolitical risk it is facing, I also opened a short position at $67.93, as a hedge to protect capital and thus evaluate more calmly how the price moves over the next few hours.
