Odaily Planet Daily, Reuters: Boston Federal Reserve Chair Collins said she supports the Federal Reserve’s decision to raise interest rates last week and that it will help bring inflation back down to the central bank’s 2% target level. In a post, Collins wrote: “Moderately increasing the federal funds rate will help ensure that inflation returns persistently to the target level. As labor market conditions improve, monetary policy can focus on promptly restoring price stability—especially after experiencing high inflation for as long as five and a half years.”
This year, Collins has no voting rights in monetary policy decisions. She said that the “likelihood” of a situation in which the inflation rate remains “significantly above 2%” is “increasing.” (Jinshi)
