Bitcoin has returned above $85,000, showing a strong move over the past day. Against this backdrop, major altcoins also started to accelerate—especially Solana (SOL) and BNB.
🟠 Why is Bitcoin rising?
This current move has several factors at once:
1️⃣ Capital inflows via ETFs
Spot Bitcoin ETFs received about $433 million in inflows just on Friday, after roughly $159.5 million earlier in the day. This indicates a rebound in demand from traditional investors.
2️⃣ Short squeeze
The sharp rise in BTC forced traders who had opened positions for a decline to close them at a loss. In the past 24 hours alone, hundreds of millions of dollars in shorts were liquidated.
That creates a domino effect:
BTC rising → short liquidations → additional demand → even bigger growth.
3️⃣ Improved sentiment around regulation
The SEC and CFTC continue to move toward establishing clearer rules for the crypto market. This week, the SEC also introduced an Innovation Exemption for certain platforms related to tokenized assets. The market took these developments positively.

🟣 What’s happening with Solana?
SOL turned out to be one of the main beneficiaries of the move.
After Bitcoin broke above $80K, Solana accelerated and on September 18 it was up more than 10% in a day, reaching roughly $112 — the highest level in seven months.
Later, the move continued: as of September 21, SOL was trading around $115–116, with growth over the month of about 20%.
The reason isn’t only Bitcoin. On Solana, there’s still homegrown demand from DeFi and tokenized-asset infrastructure, so as capital rotates from BTC into altcoins, SOL gets an extra boost.
⸻
🟡 How did BNB respond?
BNB also joined the move.
Against the backdrop of the overall crypto market, BNB was up by about 3%, and the rise came with an increase in total market capitalization of roughly 5.7% over 24 hours. This points to a fairly broad market impulse, not just a move by one coin.
For BNB, a key factor is also its own Binance ecosystem: demand for the token is tied to activity within Binance and the BNB Chain, so when risk appetite returns, BNB also gets support.
⸻
📊 What is the market showing right now?
BTC → the leader of the move and the main source of momentum
SOL → gets a stronger flow toward altcoins
BNB → follows the overall market recovery + its own ecosystem factors
The main question now is whether the market can sustain this momentum after the initial short squeeze.
If inflows into the BTC ETF continue and capital starts gradually shifting from Bitcoin into large altcoins, SOL and BNB may remain in traders’ focus.
But it’s important to remember: a sharp rise after the liquidation of shorts may come with high volatility and pullbacks.
