The ECB has opened up the Pontes — banks can use central bank euros via blockchain settlement for wholesale trades, not send you digital euros.
The first wave of Deutsche Bank, Santander, and Clearstream is now connected. For now, it’s open daily from 08:00–16:00 Central European Time (about 14:00–22:00 Beijing Time), and it’s planned to go 7×24 only in mid-2028. The ECB also said it will use a small portion of its own funds—about €23 billion—to buy high-rated, euro-denominated bonds on-chain.
So this isn’t a retail digital euro rollout (that target is still in 2029). It’s just that the wholesale settlement channel has been operational for a start. Don’t treat it as a rallying cry for European-style concept coins.
On my side: I’m not chasing European concept at the current price; if we’re looking for any premium, wait until the trading window is extended and the connected list expands further.
