About this big-level breakout, I really wanted to go buy some second-tier mainstream coins. But then I thought it through and decided against it, for the reasons below:
1. Right now, my holdings are basically already filled with BTC and ETH. The weekend posts also mentioned that back then was the right time for altcoins to flow back into BTC and ETH.
2. If I sell BTC and ETH and then go chase some second-tier mainstream coins like HYPE, UNI, ZEC, and BNB, there is actually some logic. But since we already have the leaders, we should stick with the leaders. Because once BTC pulls back a bit with volume, the other second-tier mainstream coins—even the alts—can pull back very deeply, making it easy to hit stop-loss. And it’s hard to set stop-losses properly.
3. Doing it this way basically gives up the more certain opportunity, and it’s easy to end up losing the watermelon to pick up sesame seeds. In many cases before, when I saw I was in profit, I’d think the market was looking good and then go chase some alts. But as soon as I entered, I’d run into a pullback, and the holding experience would be pretty uncomfortable. It’s better to wait for BTC to pull back, then consider leaders and alts during the consolidation.
4. During a bull market, you must keep your hands under control. This means don’t constantly switch “cars,” and don’t try to make money from every swing. Even though opportunities are everywhere, you still have to learn how to give up some in order to protect your profits.
