U.S. Sanctions Iran’s BitBank
The U.S. Treasury Department has placed the Iranian crypto exchange BitBank, its software developer, and three related individuals on the sanctions list, alleging that they helped transfer hundreds of millions of dollars in BTC to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps between June and July. This is a negative factor for the crypto compliance environment: the focus is not on BTC’s price itself, but on how U.S. sanctions are expanding from exchanges to software developers, affiliated companies, and on-chain infrastructure. Traders should pay attention to tightened compliance requirements for funds from sanctioned regions, centralized entry points, and cross-border payment-related platforms. In the short term, this is not favorable for liquidity tied to anonymous funds and high-risk exchanges.
