SEC Opens Door to Onchain Stock Trading With New ‘Innovation Exemption’

🚀 The SEC has launched an "Innovation Exemption" to promote secondary trading of tokenized stocks on blockchain platforms, effective from September 17.

🔒 Tokenized Securities Venues (TSVs) can temporarily avoid being classified as exchanges, allowing them to trade tokenized National Market System stocks through permissioned AMMs and liquidity pools, with certain safeguards in place.

📝 SEC Chairman Paul Atkins emphasized that this exemption is a preliminary step, inviting public feedback as the Commission explores further regulations for onchain trading.
