If they don’t raise rates, it jumps straight up; a rate cut leads to a huge spike followed by a sharp plunge.

A 50-basis-point hike kicks off a crash.

But no matter what, going long right around here looks very appropriate. Even after a hike, there will likely be a dovish signal. Plus, the previous bill hasn’t passed—if it doesn’t pass, in the long run it still means an unregulated “wild era.” Even the magnitude of the ups and downs should be better than after regulation.
