tried to close a deal with RioPrevidência one day after meeting with the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro (PL), at the Palácio das Laranjeiras. The sequence is included in a report by the Federal Police on the banker's ties to the government in Rio de Janeiro and shows that Vorcaro personally accompanied, in March 2024, an attempt to sell securities to the institute responsible for the retirement system of state civil servants.
The meeting with Castro took place on March 11, 2024. According to the Federal Police, Vorcaro had arranged the meeting with the governor the day before. On the 12th, less than 24 hours later, the banker went to Maurício Quadrado to ask about an operation involving Financial Letters that would be sold to RioPrevidência.
“That lf that you told Voiter about was from Rioprev??”, Vorcaro asked.
“Yes. It seems they don’t want to buy it there,” Quadrado replied.
“They’ve already denied Voiter,” the banker wrote.
The messages are part of the material analyzed by the Federal Police. The institution that would issue the securities was Voiter Bank. The operation, however, ran into an obstacle: the bank was not registered with RioPrevidência.
Vorcaro received and forwarded a message attributed to the then president of the institute, Deivis Marcon Antunes, according to which Voiter had never requested its registration. The subject of the email cited by the Federal Police was “Proposal for the acquisition of Financial Letter – Voiter S.A. Bank.”
The investigators’ conclusion is straightforward. According to the report, “it is possible to affirm” that Vorcaro attempted to carry out the sale of Financial Letters issued by Voiter to RioPrevidência.#AnthropicCEOCallsForAISlowdown @x_Rex $btc
