Seven Assets Account for 92.1% of Crypto’s Top 100 Market Value
Crypto’s market value is concentrated in surprisingly few names.
According to CryptoRank figures reported by ChainThink on September 10, the seven largest assets account for 92.1% of the combined market capitalization of the top 100 cryptocurrencies, excluding stablecoins. Bitcoin alone represents 66.6% within that same basket.
That leaves just 7.9% for the remaining assets in the measured group.
My take: this concentration helps explain why a rising overall market can feel very different from what traders see in their own portfolios. Moves in a handful of large assets can dominate the headline numbers while smaller coins follow different paths.
Market capitalization reflects prices and circulating supply. Measuring fresh investment flows requires separate data, so this snapshot alone tells us little about new money entering smaller projects.
I’m watching how many altcoins outperform Bitcoin consistently, alongside trading volume outside the largest names, to judge whether market strength is spreading.
