0.5% amplitude—are the dog-sides too lazy to move?
$BTC has been hovering for five straight days within the 77,000–77,500 range, spanning just over a hundred points. Yesterday alone, the high and low differed by 382 dollars—an amplitude of 0.49%. Half a year ago, that would’ve been hourly-chart movement; now it’s just daily movement.
What is the market waiting for?
1. Waiting for Friday’s Non-Farm Payrolls: employment data will determine the direction of rate-cut expectations;
2. Waiting for the direction after US stock market opens: from this level, both upward and downward moves can be justified, but you still need some funds to push it in a clear direction;
3. Waiting for liquidity to return: right after Labor Day, many institutional traders are still in vacation mode.
The hardest part of this kind of market isn’t losing money—it’s the grind. Long positions can’t pull out any real profit, while short positions don’t dare to take heavy size. You get stopped out back and forth.
I have only one strategy right now: place orders and don’t move them—wait for a volume expansion. Whoever makes the first move before the direction is clear is the one who gets cut.
