Bitcoin Reverses After Hitting $81,280: ETF Buying Continues While Eyes Turn to the Fed
After reaching a peak of $81,280, Bitcoin fell below $80,000 as strong fund inflows and the upcoming Fed message put the market’s focus there.
In Asian trading hours, Bitcoin traded just below the $80,000 level. According to CoinDesk data, the price rose by about 2% over the past 24 hours before pulling back after hitting $81,280 overnight. Markets are waiting for the first Jackson Hole remarks that U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh will deliver later today.
The annual meeting held in Wyoming is watched as one of the events where Fed chairs deliver key messages regarding interest-rate policy. Warsh’s remarks could provide the first comprehensive signals about the direction of rates ahead of the Fed meeting on September 16.
$2.8 billion flowed into Bitcoin funds in eight sessions
In the U.S., exchange-traded funds that track the Bitcoin price directly—spot Bitcoin ETFs—attracted $2.8 billion in investment over eight uninterrupted sessions. Total inflows in August also surpassed $3 billion, putting them close to the strongest month so far in 2026.
While fund buying continues, interest-rate expectations are creating downward pressure in the opposite direction. In the futures markets, a 35% chance of a rate hike in September has been priced in, while expectations of no hike by December have been fully incorporated into prices. Bitcoin, meanwhile, is up about 9% over the past week.
In altcoins, Solana rose by around 4% daily and approached $101, carrying its weekly gain to 20%. Ethereum gained just over 1%, while XRP was up slightly more than 2%. Warsh’s message will be closely watched to see whether Bitcoin can hold its position around $80,000 despite strong fund demand.
