Superficially, it looks like sentiment has warmed up, but what’s really notable is that the keywords people use when talking about Google have changed: no longer search, ads, or YouTube—now it’s data centers, AI capital expenditures, and tokenized stocks.
Why now? On August 25, Coinbase officially launched the first batch of tokenized stocks on the Base chain, alongside Alphabet, Nvidia, Apple, and Meta. On the same day, “Data Centers to Be the Big Theme of 2026” became the headline on Binance News. Earlier still, OpenAI announced a $122 billion funding round (to be verified), further intensifying the arms race in AI. Google sits at the intersection of these narratives—it is one of the biggest buyers of AI compute and also a major seller of cloud services, and now it has become an on-chain financial asset.
