Crypto Short Squeeze Just Got Serious

Bitcoin, Ether and Solana are pushing higher as another wave of short positions gets liquidated.

Around $1 billion in shorts were wiped out over the latest 24-hour period, while Thursday saw roughly $3 billion in short liquidations the largest single-day figure reported since 2021.

That puts the two-day short-liquidation total at more than $4 billion.

This is more than just a price move.

When traders heavily bet on downside and the market moves sharply higher, those short positions can be forced to close. That buying pressure can add further momentum to the move.

It’s a classic short squeeze and a reminder that crowded positioning can make crypto moves much more aggressive.

The bigger question now is whether this momentum can hold once the forced liquidations fade.

Fast moves create attention. Sustained moves need real demand.
