We have experience dealing with this, so there is no need to be overly anxious. High infectiousness, high mortality rate, and high variability are the impossible triangle of viruses. Viruses and bacteria, as lower organisms, carry very little genetic material themselves, so their total points in biological attributes are also quite limited, leading to a trade-off situation. Currently, if the mortality rate is high and variability is strong, the infectiousness must be weak. If we highlight a strong infectiousness point, it is highly likely that the mortality rate has decreased, essentially redistributing points. Since humans invented vaccines, it has been impossible for a virus to wipe out a large population. Even the COVID-19 virus did not eliminate a significant percentage of the population. In the world of viruses, smallpox is the peak that all viruses cannot surpass, but vaccines are the most stringent father of smallpox!
