Recently, gold has been continuously breaking new highs. From the price of gold, everyone can feel the unprecedented changes in a century.
I went to Hong Kong in January 2025, and on the way back, I allocated a portion while passing through Shuibei. At that time, the price was still at 643.
I have some insights to share regarding gold and family asset allocation to hedge risks.
Firstly, paper currency will always be overissued, whether it is Renminbi, US Dollar, Japanese Yen, British Pound, or the sovereign credit currencies of all sovereign nations around the world. An infinitely overissued currency does not mean gold has become expensive, but rather that paper money has lost its value.
Secondly, in the face of unprecedented changes in a century, families or individuals should allocate at least 5% to 20% of their total assets in physical gold, serving as a cornerstone of their assets, and under no circumstances should it be touched. In extreme situations similar to the Republic's gold yuan notes, or Venezuela's hyperinflation, it ensures survival and enables one to wait for the storm to pass for post-disaster reconstruction.
Thirdly, do not purchase paper gold, which includes financial gold ETFs in your bank account or on platforms like Alipay and WeChat. In the most extreme cases, physical gold cannot be redeemed, and it could potentially become worthless. Gold is not an income-generating asset; holding it does not produce interest. The profits shown on paper come from higher price differences.
Finally, as a loyal believer in blockchain and Bitcoin, I firmly believe in the sense of security that comes from having assets firmly in my own hands. There is no need for any institutions, organizations, or governments to be responsible for me; I am responsible for myself. Besides possessing the anti-inflation characteristics of gold, Bitcoin has the crucial aspect that, unless you agree, no one or any organization can take your Bitcoin from you, whereas gold can be taken. Here, my suggestion is to save assets, excluding the cash flow necessary for daily life and physical gold allocations, in the form of Bitcoin.
