#dusk $DUSK @Dusk Reading the Dusk whitepaper, I kept coming back to one question: what does it actually feel like to use this?

The tech is solid. Two transaction models — Moonlight for transparent stuff, Phoenix for private. Zero-knowledge proofs. Sub-second finality. But as a user, I'm not sure I'd know when to use which.

Here's the thing: if I'm sending a payment to a friend, Moonlight is fine. It's fast, cheap, and transparent. But if I'm moving a large amount that I don't want the whole world to see, I'd choose Phoenix. That's the design.

But here's where it gets tricky. With Phoenix, the sender needs to generate a ZK proof. That takes time and compute. Not huge amounts, but it's not instant like a simple Moonlight transfer. And the recipient needs their view key just to scan and see if a transaction is meant for them.

So the private option has friction. Which is fine — privacy always costs something. But will a regular user care enough to go through the extra steps?

I think the real question is: who is the target user here?

If it's a retail person who just wants to send money, Moonlight is enough. If it's a financial institution trading securities, they'll happily eat the extra compute for privacy and compliance. That's where Phoenix shines.

But that means Dusk isn't really a mass-market consumer chain. It's a B2B blockchain for banks, asset managers, and regulated entities. That's not a bad thing — it's actually a smart niche. But it's worth being honest about.

So yeah, the tech is impressive. But the user experience is split. And that split will determine whether it's a tool for institutions or something you'd actually use on a daily basis.
