Yesterday I had coffee with a friend who does contracts. He suddenly asked me, “Do you still look at AI concept projects?” I laughed and replied, “Yes, but first doubt, then research.

The reason is simple: over the past two years, I’ve seen too many so-called AI projects. In essence, they just stitch together model API calls, wrap them in a layer of Web3 storytelling, and there aren’t many with real technical barriers. So when I first got in touch with @OpenGradient , I didn’t have high expectations either.

What truly changed my perspective was its design approach.

Instead of constantly advertising model capabilities, OPG is more focused on solving the question of how AI results can be verified. Through the HACA architecture, it separates inference and validation. Compute nodes handle the fast completion of tasks, while the verification network confirms that the results are trustworthy. This architecture may not be the simplest, but it seeks a balance between efficiency and trust.

I think this will be important for on-chain AI in the future. Whether it’s quantitative trading strategies, DeFi risk control, or Agent-based automated execution—if the results can’t be verified, no matter how smart the model is, it’s hard to truly manage assets.

Also, I’ve been using OpenGradient Chat for a while. Besides the fact that the answer quality is fairly consistent, the privacy-related design left a good impression on me. For people who often research protocols and organize transaction thinking, simply having “content” that can be casually collected is not ideal. With TEE isolation and privacy computation, there’s at least more protection.

Of course, I’m not blindly optimistic because of this.

Any system that requires additional verification has to face the trade-off between performance and cost. In the future, if the scale of on-chain calls keeps growing, whether it can stay stable in high-concurrency environments still needs real business use to test it.

So at this stage, I’d rather treat $OPG as an AI infrastructure project worth continuously tracking, not just chasing the latest hotspot. In the end, what determines future value is whether developers are willing to integrate it—and whether users are willing to use it for the long term.
