Brussels is planning to conduct a new antitrust investigation against Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) regarding the introduction of artificial intelligence features within WhatsApp, according to a report by the Financial Times on Thursday.

According to the report, which cited two officials, the European Commission is preparing to open an investigation into how the Silicon Valley company integrated Meta's AI system into the popular messaging service earlier this year.

The newspaper reported that the Commission may announce the investigation in the coming days, although the timing could change.

The investigation will represent another regulatory challenge for Meta in Europe, where the company has faced increasing scrutiny over its business practices across its suite of applications.
